Nine arrested in Addu for attempted act of terrorism

Nine people have been arrested from Addu city on suspicion of attempting to carry out an act of terrorism.

A police media official said that an investigation is underway into the arrest of individuals accused of attempting to carry out an act of terrorism. However, he did not provide any further details.

However, "Mihaaru" has come to know that nine people were arrested in the terrorism operation. It is not clear from which island they were arrested.

While individuals have been arrested from Addu City, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has begun his trip to visit all islands of the atoll on Saturday.

The Police Academy was opened at a ceremony held in Hithadhoo yesterday. External Affairs Minister of India Dr. Jaishankar was also present at the ceremony.
