A private company, of which jailed former Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim's family are stakeholders, has filed a lawsuit against the children of Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom seeking over MVR 2 million for a delayed payment.

The lawsuit filed at Civil Court states that the four siblings have not paid the amount due to a project awarded to Rasheed Carpentry & Construction (RCC) Company for the development of a building in capital Male. It has been almost four years since the completion of the building, which is under the name of Dhunya, Yumna, Faris and Ghassan Maumoon.

The hearings of the case are ongoing at the Civil Court.

It is noteworthy that amidst the internal disputes of the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), its leader Maumoon has taken back his support for the current administration of his half-brother President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and has since been publicly criticizing the government. However, his daughter Dhunya and youngest son Ghassan are currently serving as State Ministers of the government.
