Health Protection Agency (HPA) has requested to everyone to cancel or delay large gatherings they may have otherwise chosen to hold as the school holidays have started.
Maldives’ schools closed on December 19 for the semester break. Second semester will start on January 16, 2022.
In an announcement made by HPA on Thursday, the agency advocated for safe practices when travelling abroad or within the country, or holding large familial gatherings as well.
Things to look out for while travelling within Maldives
- To test for Covid as soon as possible if symptoms are detected
avoid travelling if symptoms are detected
- Wear masks while outside and making social visits to houses
- Avoid travelling to countries with a surge in Covid cases
HPA had reiterated the importance of minimizing large gatherings at the moment. They also adviced open locations if large gatherings were to be held and to abide by the HPA regulations.
High risk individuals should avoid visiting such locations all together, the agency said.
"We advice everyone to stay vigilant and to take precautionary measures to ensure you, your family, and the community stays safe in this time when a new variant is spreading through the globe," HPA said.
