Former Minister of Home Affairs Umar Naseer on Wednesday met with former vice president and leader of Maldives United Opposition (MUO) Mohamed Jameel Ahmed and the former chairperson of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Ali Waheed in the United Kingdom regarding the upcoming Presidential Election 2018.

According to a tweet posted by Umar Naseer, who has announced his candidacy for the next Presidential Elections, he has had a fruitful meeting with Jameel, former Minister of President’s Office Abdulla Ameen and former Minister of Youth and Sports Maleeh Jamaal. He added that he also had a productive meeting with deputy leader of Jumhoory Party Ameen Ibrahim and Sobah Rasheed.

Umar went to the United Kingdom for the meetings last Sunday and will be back Thursday.

Speaking in the public chat group made by Umar for the Presidential Elections, he noted that constructive discussions were carried out and current issues were also discussed.

Umar had previously met the leaders of ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and Jumhoory Party. In the midst of internal divisions in PPM, Umar took the side of party leader and Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom. Umar has stated earlier that the Presidential Elections 2018 will only be achieved by a coalition, hence incumbent President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom will never be able to create one.
