An orchestra of China will put on a show in the Maldives coming Tuesday to celebrate 45 years of diplomatic relations between the Asian giant and island nation, announced Minister of Youth and Sports Iruthisham Adam on Sunday.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Youth Ministry, the minister stated that the orchestra, comprising 26 players, will perform at Olympus Theatre in capital Male this Tuesday night. She noted that all expenses are covered by the Chinese Embassy in Maldives.

Minister Iruthisham shed light on the joint projects conducted by the two nations over the past year, highlighting the Youth Exchange Program under which 10 Maldivians visited China on a cultural tour.

She also thanked the Chinese government for its continuous aid and assistance to the Maldives.

National Centre for the Arts (NCA)’s Executive Coordinator Farish Thoha added that the orchestra performance is expected to facilitate more opportunities for Maldivian youth as well.

The orchestra show is open for the public.
