The Maldives government has appointed Maldives Ports Ltd (MPL)’s Deputy CEO Mahdi Imad as the chairman of the Transport Authority, and the authority’s previous chairman, Abdul Rasheed Nafiz, as the Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs.

Nafiz, who had long served the Transport Authority, has now assumed the chief responsibilities of the Labour Authority under the Economic Ministry.

Mahdi had also been a long serving executive employee of MPL. While he has been transferred to the Transport Authority, the Anti-Corruption Committee had forwarded charges against Mahdi, of abusing his position’s power, to the Prosecutor Generals’ Office last year.
