Maldives Police Service confirmed, on Sunday, that a four-year-old male drowned in the lagoon of Fenfushi, Alif Dhaalu Atoll.

Fenfushi Health Centre confirmed that the child had passed away when he was brought to the medical facility.

According to the police, the child was reported missing at around 1520 hrs and was found in the lagoon by officers searching for him.

Although no further details of the case were revealed, police confirmed that an investigation was underway.
