Key Director of Universal Enterprises, Maldives' tourism industry giant, Dr Ibrahim Umar Manik was reported deceased on Thursday, at the age of 68.
In addition to his role at a company responsible for pioneering the country's hospitality industry, Dr Manik also served as Maldives' first-ever anesthesiologist.
At the time of his passing, Dr Manik was receiving treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.

In addition to holding shares in Universal Enterprises, a leading company in the Maldivian tourism industry, Dr Manik also privately owns three resorts in Maldives.
Furthermore, in 1985, he established the Male' Aerated Water Company, which is licensed to produce Coca Cola Products for distribution in Maldives.

Dr.Ibrahim Manik is the 1st Maldivian to become an Anaesthesiologist, he had worked at Male Central Hospital.

He is survived by two children and his German widow.
