Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Saturday, announced Maldives' decision to co-host the Fifth Maldives-European Union Policy Dialogue on November 23.
According to the Ministry, the virtual dialogue will paint special focus on the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, particularly on the efforts to contain and achieve a resilient recovery from the pandemic and to build back better.
The thematic areas of discussions include cooperation in the fisheries sector, environment and climate change, development cooperation, trade and investment, finance, democracy, governance, human rights, security cooperation and Schengen Visa facilitation.
The Maldivian delegation will be led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid, and consists of Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials from relevant government agencies.
On the other hand, the EU delegation will be led by the EU Ambassador to Maldives Denis Chaibi.
The Maldives-EU Policy Dialogue is an annually held forum to facilitate open and constructive engagement between the two parties to further strengthen existing ties of friendship and cooperation.
