Maldives Police Service, on Wednesday, confirmed that authorities prevented a terrorist attack organised by a group of religious extremists, based on reports by police intelligence.
According to police, a total of five suspects were arrested in a special operation launched regarding the planned attack, including a suspect from capital Male’, three suspects from a vessel at sea and one suspect from Thimarafushi, Thaa Atoll.
Police did not reveal any further information about the terror attack, but assured that additional details will be shared with the public as the operation progresses.
