President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, while commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on Wednesday, noted that socio-economic progress can be achieved by following examples set by the early Muslim community.

In his address, President Solih urged Maldivians to reflect on the life of Prophet Muhammed, describing the prophet as "one of the greatest blessings" bestowed upon the world by the yAlmighty.

"This occasion is an opportune time to spread Islamic values and principles, such as strengthening our bonds with kin, promoting justice and compassion, as well as helping and being kind to one another", said President Solih,

The President also encouraged every individual to nurture Islam in their hearts by practising its values and principles taught by the Holy Prophet.

The birth of Prophet Muhammad, or the 'Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi', is commemorated on the 12th day of Rabi' al-Awwal, the third month in the Islamic calendar.
