Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid, on Monday, virtually met high commissioners and ambassadors from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) that are accredited to Maldives.
The meeting was attended by the High Commissioners of Indonesia and Malaysia as well as the Ambassadors of Laos, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
Following discussions regarding the COVID-19 situation in each country, the foreign minister expressed gratitude for the foreign assistance extended to support Maldives' COVID-19 response.
Additionally, deliberations were held regarding avenues to enhance bilateral and multilateral relationships between the countries.
The meeting was held on the initiative of Minister Shahid in order to increase interaction and cultivate closer relationships between the foreign ministry and the ASEAN envoys assigned to Maldives.
