Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) finalised the decision to restart fish processing in Kandu Oiy Giri, Kaafu Atoll.

According to MIFCO, the decision aims to increase the export of chilled Yellowfin Tuna and reef fish in accordance with the incumbent government's target to expand the Maldivian fisheries industry.

The state fisheries company highlighted that the facility established on the island was licensed by the European Union for chilled fish processing,

MIFCO has opened applications for private companies interested in acquiring packaging services for Yellowfin Tuna and species of reef fish. Interested companies can find the application form on https://mifco.com.mv/download.

Initially used for weighing and packaging fish, MIFCO discontinued operations at Kandu Oiy Giri Fish Village (KFV) several years ago.
