President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom presented letters of appointment to three new Ambassadors of the Maldives at a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Monday morning.

The newly allotted appointees are Hamdhoon Abdulla Hameed as the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Maldives to Singapore, Mohamed Hussain Shareef as Ambassador of the Maldives to Japan, and Jameela Ali Khalid as the Ambassador of the Maldives to Germany.

Hamdhoon Hameed is the former Planning Minister during Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s regime. He was also a lawmaker of Iguraidhoo Constituency.

Mohamed Hussain Shareef was most recently in the post of Minister at the President’s Office.

Mostly prominent in the education sector, Jameela Ali was a successful principal in a number of schools and also worked in high ranks of the Ministry of Education. Most recently, she served as the Vice President of Civil Service Commission.

As the German Embassy was opened only last September, Jameela Ali Khalid is the first Maldivian Ambassador to Germany.
