Maldives Immigration Department has resumed accepting medical reports required for expatriate visas from privately owned ADK Hospital, after investigations into forged medical reports of individuals with dangerous contagious diseases.
Immigration had earlier announced its rejection of medical reports from the largest private hospital in the Maldives, ADK Hospital, and private clinic AMDC over medical report forgery. The newly published list of hospitals and clinics approved by Immigration includes ADK but not AMDC.
The Managing Director of ADK Hospital, Ahmed Afaal, also confirmed the development. However, Mihaaru was not able to obtain a confirmation from Immigration as the spokesperson was not available.
Immigration currently accepts medical reports from only six places which are state run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), ADK hospital, Hulhumale’ Hospital, Medica, Crystal Medical and Advance Medical. Medical reports of some atoll and regional hospitals are also accepted.
In a previous statement, Immigration announced that they in collaboration with Police are looking into cases of expatriates that had submitted forged medical reports for visas. Immigration will not accept medical reports from certain hospitals and clinics until the end of the case.
