Parliament approves to appoint Ummu Kulsoom to JSC

The parliament on Wednesday approved to appoint Aminath Ummu Kulsoom as the public representative to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

Out of the five candidates that applied for the position, the parliamentary Judiciary Committee endorsed Adam Migdhaadh in addition to Ummu Kulsoom

Ummu Kulsoom's appointment was approved with 67 lawmakers voting in her favour.

JSC comprises of Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed, parliamentary representative for Baa Atoll's Thulhaadhoo MP Hisaan Hussain, presidential representative Masthoor Husny, Attorney General Ibrahim Riffath, Justice Aisha Shujoon Mohamed of the Supreme Court, Judge Ali Sameer of the High Court, Judge Ali Shareef representing the lower courts, and lawyer Abdul Maniu Hussain.
