Judicial Service Commission (JSC) on Monday, announced its decision to investigate Judge Abdul Bari Yoosuf of the Juvenile Court, over allegations of falsifying his asset declaration.

According to a circular, JSC noted that Judge Bari had failed to declare his assets received from a business venture. The matter received a greenlight for investigation during a meeting held by the Commission on July 8.

JSC previously stated that it will probe a disciplinary issue of the judge, as the Maldives Police Service are currently investigating him in connection to the corruption case of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

Judge Bari remains temporarily suspended by JSC since December 12, 2019, over the police investigation

Judge Bari previously sat on the bench of the Criminal Court, where he presided over several cases involving high profile politicians. He was abruptly transferred to the Juvenile Court in 2017.

The Commission is currently investigating several judges over various issues. While a number of them are already on suspension, some have been dismissed from their posts as well.
