The Maldives government has dismissed a number of senior officials of the state from their posts.
According to a tweet posted by the President's Office spokesperson Ibrahim Muaz Ali, five officials were terminated on Wednesday.
Mohamed Yasir – Vice President of the Privatization Board
Mohamed Zuhair - Senior Policy Executive of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury
Abdul Ghafoor Latheef - Senior Policy Executive of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury
Dr Mohamed Ali - State Minister of the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure
Mohamed Gubadh Aboobakr - Senior Policy Executive of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs
The reason for this sudden dismissal has not been yet disclosed.
In addition to these senior officials, four coordinators of the Ministry of Youth and Sports were also sacked from their posts Wednesday.
Mihaaru understands that the four coordinators are renowned local singer Mira Mohamed Majid, Mohamed Shahuneem, Ahmed Nazim and Ahmed Zameel.
