Maldives Immigration Department on Wednesday stated that they have temporarily halted accepting medical reports required for expatriate visas from certain hospitals and clinics due to ongoing investigations into false medical reports forged for some individuals with dangerous contagious diseases.
Immigration had earlier this week announced its rejection of medical reports from the largest private hospital in the Maldives, ADK Hospital, and private clinic AMDC.
In a statement, Immigration announced that they in collaboration with Police are looking into cases of expatriates that had submitted forged medical reports for visas. Immigration will not accept medical reports from certain hospitals and clinics until the end of the case.
“From our inspection, the expatriates in these false reports are those that were pronounced as having dangerous contagious diseases from reports they had done prior,” said Immigration.
The department asserted that it will take any and all necessary actions to ensure the security and protection of the community.
