Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) announced on Saturday evening that the hospital's online clinics would begin operating on April 20, providing consultation services during the lockdown imposed over the country's COVID-19 outbreak.
According to the hospital, each department within the online clinics are set to provide consultation services for 10 to 15 people each day.
The online clinic services will commence from 0900hrs lasting to 1300hrs every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, via video call conferencing.
In addition to the online clinics already run by the hospital's gynaecology and psychiatry departments, the hospital will introduce these clinics for the departments of neurology, cardiology, general surgery, oncology, internal medicine, pulmonology, nephrology and paediatrics.
IGMH stated that the hospital will contact patients requesting consultation services, in order of the current appointment listings.

In response to the first local transmission of the coronavirus, HPA issued a Red Alert for Male' City and placed the greater Male' region under lockdown, which has been extended to May 1.
The lockdown prohibits all civilians and those with special permits to leave their residences, as well as a ban on all land and sea transportation within the area. HPA has also ordered a nationwide travel ban, with special exceptions made for cargo transportation and fishing vessels.
Maldives now has 34 confirmed and 18 active cases of COVID-19, with a total of 16 recoveries.
The World Health Organization has classified the spread of COVID-19 as a global pandemic. The novel coronavirus has infected over 2.2 million people and claimed over 154,726 lives around the world. However, out of those infected, more than 579,187 people have recovered.
