Maldives Police Service revealed late Monday that over MVR 1.7 million were stolen from real estate developer and construction materials supplier, Apollo Holdings.
According to authorities, in addition to MVR 1.7 million in cash, another USD 2,200 were also looted from Apollo Holdings' main office. A total of five safes were broken into during the burglary.
As per surveillance footage, the heist took place between 2345 hrs Sunday night and 0430 hrs on early Monday morning. Apollo further revealed that the perpetrators had put opaque tape over the CCTV cameras during the burglary.
Police stated that the investigation is underway. No arrests have been made yet.
