COVID-19: Five individuals from three resorts being tested

Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed on early Saturday that five individuals from three different resorts are being tested after developing symptoms of COVID-19.

Those being tested include two Maldivians from Residence Maldives Dhigurah Resort, one Maldivian from Taj Exotica Resort and one Maldivian and a foreign national from Filitheyo Island Resort.

As per HPA all of these individuals are tested as a precautionary measure, and they are currently placed in home isolation.

Additionally, all three resorts are being closely monitored due to this.

Currently, there are 16 positive cases from Maldives, out of which one case is a local and all the others are tourists and resort staff. So far, out of the positive cases, nine people have recovered.

The World Health Organization has classified the spread of COVID-19 as a global pandemic. The novel coronavirus has infected more than 597,000 and claimed over 27,000 lives around the world. However, out of those infected, more than 133,000 have recovered.
