Police investigate death of resort employee

Maldives Police Service disclosed on Monday that an employee of Olhuveli Beach and Spa Resort was found dead in his living quarters.

The 53-year-old Sri Lankan male was reported dead on Monday itself, Police said.

Police later stated that the employee's sudden death was not considered connected to the COVID-19 pandemic "as the deceased had a medical known history". Adding that no other external injuries were found on the body, Police stated that it could imply it was a natural death.

However, they assured that a standard death investigation will be undertaken to complete all procedural matters on reported sudden death cases.
