Health Protection Agency (HPA) lifted the monitoring measures enacted on Cheval Blanc Randheli resort on Saturday, after the samples taken from the island tested negative for COVID-19.

The travel restrictions were implemented on the resort last Thursday, after a foreign national developed COVID-19 like symptoms. However, as per protocol, the ban has now been lifted.

HPA is also currently monitoring Adaaran Club Rannalhi and Centara Grand Island, along with Bodufulhadhoo Island, Alif Alif Atoll and the liveaboard 'Equator' over suspected coronavirus cases.

Maldives currently has 13 confirmed and 10 active cases cases of COVID-19. The country recorded its first two recoveries on Friday, and the third this Saturday.

No Maldivians have tested positive for the virus as of yet. So far, only tourists and resort employees have confirmed infections with no local transmissions.

The World Health Organization has classified the spread of COVID-19 as a global pandemic. The novel coronavirus has infected more than 284,700 and claimed over 11,800 lives around the world. However, out of those infected, more than 93,500 have recovered.
