A Maldivian who came into contact with the suspected COVID-19 case in Kuramathi Island Resort was quarantined late Tuesday.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced the development in a tweet, stating that the local will undergo further testing and monitoring.

The resort was placed on lockdown Tuesday after a tourist began to exhibit symptoms of the coronavirus. Authorities also quarantined Vilamendhoo Island Resort and One and Only Reethi Rah the same day over suspected cases of COVID-19.

Six foreign nationals, including tourists, have tested positive for coronavirus in Maldives. Five resorts are under lockdown, including Kuredu Island Resort and Sandies Bathala Resort.

Till date, no Maldivians have tested positive for COVID-19.
