President Solih appoints new deputy youth minister

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih appointed the former president of Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll Council, Mohamed Nasih Rasheed, as the Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment on Tuesday.

Nasih resigned from his post as council president prior to the primary elections of ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) held last weekend. Previously, he had served as a member of the council as well.

According to the President's Office, Nasih is currently studying for his Bachelor's Degree in Shariah and Law. He currently holds a Diploma in Project Management, Advance Certificate in Youth Development, Office Administration and completed a National Support Programme in Pakistan.

Presently, there are total four deputy ministers at the youth ministry, including Nasih. The sports commissioner, Heena Ahed Saleem, is also at a deputy ministerial level.

Deputy ministers receive a monthly remuneration of MVR 30,500, comprising a basic salary of MVR 18,000 and allowances of MVR 12,500.
