Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services is investigating a case of an impregnated teenage minor.

According to an official from Gender Ministry, the case was lodged with the ministry about eight months ago.

The pregnant underage girl, reported to be 15-years old and from a southern atoll, is not under state custody, reported local news Mihaaru.

The Ministry did not reveal any details regarding the case, nor any details about the perpetrator. However, the ministry disclosed that they were looking into the case as a matter of serious concern.

Multiple cases of sexual abuse surfaced this weekend, including the rape cases of a 2-year-old toddler and a 5-year-old girl.

Maldives Police Service on Saturday disclosed that three men were arrested in connection to the rape of the toddler. Two of the three men, the victim’s 62-year old grandfather and 81-year old great-grandfather, face sexual abuse charges against the two-year-old, while the victim’s father, 33-years old, is accused of negligence.

The 5-year-old victim's abuser, a 56-year-old suspect was arrested late Saturday night.
