President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Wednesday, sent a message of condolence to Indonesian President Joko Widodo following the catastrophic floods that occurred in Jakarta.
President Solih expressed great sadness over learning of the devastating floods in Jakarta, the Indonesian capital, resulting in several deaths, injuries and extensive damage to property and infrastructure.
He extended condolences to the displaced and bereaved families, on behalf of the government and people of Maldives.
The president concluded the message expressing wishes for a successful recovery effort.
Jakarta was hit with torrential downpours and thunderstorms since January 2. The death toll from flooding and landslides has thus far exceeded 65.
Flooding affected various sub-districts in the provinces of Jakarta, West Java, and Banten, displacing thousands.
