Attorney General's (AG) office revealed that a case regarding the leasing of Fushi Dhiggaru lagoon against the state was filed at Singapore's Arbitration Center.

In 2013, during the tenure of former President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik, an agreement was signed to lease Fushi Dhiggaru for 50 years to Prime Capital Maldives.

According to the statement released by AG, Prime Capital Maldives accuses the state of violating the agreement and was informed that the case was filed.

The statement by Prime Capital revealed that the state failed in handing over the lagoon as agreed under the joint venture. The lagoon was set to be leased to reclaim 27 islands.

The company seeks compensation for legal fees and damages caused due to the state's failure in upholding the agreement.
