A Maldivian woman was declared winner of the World Heart Federation (WHF)'s poster competition 'Heart Hero Awards' 2019.

The winning posters were decided through a public survey.

Alumni of the Seshadripuram Degree College in neighboring India also won the competition.

Thahey's poster read that she is "committed to advocate for 'inclusive policies' in cardiovascular health".

The competition is part of WHF's World Heart Day activities to celebrate 'Heart Heroes' - "people from all walks of life who have shown commitment, courage, empathy and care in relation to heart health".

Cardiovascular diseases are the most common cause of mortality in people with diabetes.
