The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) launched an investigation into Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed's trip to Vilingili, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.
ACC revealed that it was alerted to a claim stating that tickets for the trip undertaken during August were financed with the parliament's budget.
Nasheed was the chief guest of the conference, attended by councillors from the atolls of Laamu, Gaafu Alif, Gaafu Dhaalu, Fuvahmulah and Addu.
ACC's probe marks the first investigation launched concerning Nasheed after he assumed the position of Parliament Speaker.
