Officer under investigation for alleged sexual assault: Police

Maldives Police Service, on Monday, announced an investigation into a male police officer for allegedly attempting to sexually abuse an 18-year old male, in capital Male' City.

According to Police, the institution received report of an altercation which occurred between the two at approximately 22:50 hours on late Sunday.

Although the officer was initially arrested, Criminal Court released the man on Monday under special conditions.

Police's Professional Standards Command (PSC) is investigating the matter. The officer remains under suspension.
