The newly appointed ambassadors of Argentina, Cyprus and the Netherlands called on Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid on Sunday.

The ambassadors sat down with the minister at separate meetings held at the foreign ministry, after they presented their letters of credence to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih earlier the same day.

The non-resident Ambassador of Argentina to Maldives Daniel Chuburu and Minister Shahid discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Dutch Ambassador Tanja Gonggrijp also exchanged views with the minister on enhancing ties, with a focus on finding sustainable solutions to challenges caused by climate change.

Meanwhile, Cypriot Ambassador Agis Loizou and Minister Shahid discussed enhancing cooperation in areas such as health, air connectivity and facilitating visa free travel to Cyprus. Ambassador Loizou also expressed his support for Maldives' bid to re-join the Commonwealth.

Minister Shahid was accompanied at the meetings by State Minister Ahmed Khaleel and Director Shiuneen Rasheed.
