The governor of Yunnan Province, China, Ruan Chengfa called on Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid on Monday.
Minister Shahid welcomed the Chinese delegation to the Maldives at a meeting held at the ministry.
During the sit-down, the minister highlighted the close relations between the two nations, and discussed ways of strengthening relations in the areas of agriculture, education, sports, tourism and trade.
The two diplomats also expressed confidence that Maldives and China will continue working together both bilaterally and internationally on issues of mutual concern, and enhance cooperation.
The minister was accompanied by Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed, Secretary, Multilateral Dr Ali Naseer Mohamed, Joint Secretary Mariyam Seena, and Assistant Director Maryam Bassama Farooq.
