President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Speaker of Parliament and former President Mohamed Nasheed, on Sunday, met with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohammed Bin Zayed and Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed Bin Salman.
The meeting took place during their official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on the invitation of Prince Zayed.
However, the President's Office has yet to reveal further information about the details of this meeting.
President Solih and Nasheed were also scheduled to hold a meeting with UAE's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to discuss ways to improve the bilateral relations between the two countries.
During former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's administration, the government received harsh criticism for maintaining close ties with Saudi Arabia. The public accused Yameen's government of planning to sell a Maldivian island to the kingdom.
