Vice President concludes visit to Haa Alif, Haa Dhaalu

Vice President Faisal Naseem, on Sunday, concluded his two-day visit to the atolls of Haa Alif and Haa Dhaalu.

During his initial stop at Molhadhoo, Haa Alif Atoll, the vice president inaugurated the island's harbour development project, futsal grounds and a children's park.

Vice President Naseem met the Haa Alif Atoll Council in Dhidhdhoo and deliberated on future development plans. He also discussed prevalent issues with Dhidhdhoo Island Council.

Additionally, he attended the ‘Thila Uthuru Uhthama Aruthaveringe Awards’ ceremony as the chief guest.

The awards, initiated by the North Thiladhunmathi Atoll Council, acknowledge achievements and contributions of local councils, students, individual citizens, associations, companies and resorts for the improvement of the community and promotion of the atoll’s status.

The vice president began his second day of the trip by meeting the island council of Kulhudhuffushi, Haa Dhaalu Atoll. During the meeting, he emphasised that local councils would be granted more financial and legal freedom with the state-proposed amendments to the Decentralisation Act. He further urged the island council to increase public participation in regional development efforts.

Moreover, VP Naseem visited Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital where he inaugurated the ‘Hithaanee Camp,’ and met with the hospital's management. He also paid a visit to the Family and Children Service Centre.
