Managing Director of Mayfair Insurance Guy Moliterno, on Thursday, donated lifejackets to the national Rowing Association of Maldives, based in Addu City.
The life jackets were donated following a fundraising initiative launched in partnership with the Maldivian Embassy.
According to the embassy, the life jackets will allow rowing to be accessible to more children in Maldives as life jackets are crucial to ensuring the safety of the students learning to row.
Ambassador of Maldives to the United Kingdom Dr Farahnaz Faizal facilitated the presentation of life jackets to the President of Rowing Association Ahmed Habeeb at the embassy on Thursday morning, in the attendance of Addu's Deputy Mayor Mohamed Yashrif.
The Ambassador also discussed the future expansion of rowing in the Maldives with Moliterno, his wife and colleagues from the Rowing Association, with hopes of fundraising for a boathouse and establishing a fully functional website to improve outreach.
