Man found dead after jumping off dinghy

A local man was found dead on Friday after he jumped off a dinghy en route to Thilafushi, Kaafu Atoll from the capital city of Male'.

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) revealed that the man jumped into the water at approximately 1516 hrs. A total of ten passengers were aboard the vessel at the time of the incident.

MNDF Coast Guard divers recovered the man's body from a depth of 44 metres.

According to local media outlet Mihaaru, the man was 33-year-old Ahmed Anees. The reason for his actions is unknown at present.
