Dental clinic inaugurated in Veymandoo

Deputy Minister of Health Nishama Mohamed, on Monday, inaugurated dental services at Thaa Atoll Hospital in Veymandoo.

The Ministry of Health revealed that dental services were established under aid provided by the government of Japan. Approximately MVR 1 million was spent on the project.

As per the ministry's estimates, 16,621 people will have access to the newly established dental services.

The newly introduced treatment options will increase expenditure for hospital staff at Thaa Atoll Hospital to MVR 650,000 per year.

In recent years, several patients from Thaa Atoll were referred to Laamu Gan Regional Hospital or hospitals in the capital city of Male' for dental treatments. Citizens in the region can now access the basic range of dental treatments from Thaa Atoll Hospital.

On average, a total of 100 people seek medical services from Thaa Atoll Hospital which employs five specialist doctors, two medical officers, 11 nurses and nine technical workers.
