The managing director of Maldive Gas Pvt Ltd, Shazail Shiyam, was suspended Tuesday.
President Office's Spokesperson Ibrahim Hood disclosed that Shiyam was placed under suspension as per the Office's 'Zero Tolerance to the Corruption' policy, following serious complaints accusing Shiyam of abusing his position of authority.
Hood stated that Shazail will be under suspension until the end of the investigation against him.
Shazail was appointed to the post on January 6, 2019.
He formerly served as the chairman of Kooddoo Fisheries in 2013, and the deputy minister of fisheries and agriculture. He was the deputy minister of tourism when he was dismissed on April 12, 2017, after he switched allegiance from then-President Abdulla Yameen Abdula Gayoom's party faction to that of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
