Drugs worth MVR 16.3 million seized at airport

Maldives Customs Service revealed on Monday, that drugs weighing over 4.67 Kilograms were seized from a 66 year old male with Australian citizenship travelling from Brazil.

Customs confirmed that the impounded drugs are worth a net amount of MVR 16.3 million.

According to Customs, the traveler arrived in the country by flight on October 1, 2019. They further revealed that the drugs that were confiscated from his luggage were tested positive for Cocaine during the initial screening.

Customs stated that the detained traveler and narcotics were handed over to Maldives Police Services.

Maldives Customs Services has, till date, confiscated 33.16 Kg of drugs this year.
