Chief of Staff at President's Office Ali Zahir on Saturday officially inaugurated laboratory services in the health centre at Kanduhulhudhoo, Gaafu Alif Atoll.
According to the Ministry of Health, all the machines and facilities were set up and services were being provided since September 22.
Prior to this, locals of Kanduhulhudhoo travelled to nearby Gemanafushi or Gahdhoo for laboratory services -- a 20-minute trip.
With the introduction of laboratory services, the 500 people living in Kanduhulhudhoo will have easier access to a better quality of treatment.
In addition to Kanduhulhudhoo, laboratory services the atoll are provided in Gaafu Alif Atoll Hospital, Gemanafushi Health Centre, Daandhoo Health Centre, Dhevvadhoo Health Centre and Kolamaafushi Health Centre.
