JSC to issue warnings to top court justices

Judicial Service Commission on Tuesday decided to issue injunctions against the Chief Justice and two other Justices of the Supreme Court.

Following an investigation into Chief Justice Dr Ahmed Abdulla Didi and Justices Abdulla Areef and Adam Mohamed, members of the commission decided on issuing the injunction as a disciplinary action. The investigations were carried out by an investigative sub committee consisting of JSC members.

JSC has not yet revealed the details of the disciplinary investigation into the judges. In a press release, JSC confirmed that the three judges were given adequate time to respond to the disciplinary measures.

Furthermore, JSC revealed their decision to issue a warning as mandated by the investigative committee, regarding Kondey Magistrate Court's Senior Magistrate Mohamed Ibrahim.

JSC stated that it is also looking into disciplinary cases against Magistrate Ummu Kulsoom Aboobakur at Eydhafushi, Baa Atoll, Senior Magistrate Ibrahim Muneer at Gemanafushi Court, Gaafu Alif Atoll, and Judge Abdul-Nasir Shafeeq at the Civil Court.
