Fenaka Corporation donated MVR 1 million to victims of the fire tragedy which occurred in the capital city of Male' on September 20.
Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed officially accepted the aid presented by employees of the company at a ceremony held at the headquarters of Fenaka Corporation.
National Disaster Management Centre (NDMA) also established a relief fund for the victims.
The fire which originated from a 3-storey chemical storage facility constructed from metal roofing sheets resulted in one death and the displacement of over 400 individuals. Four warehouses and seven residential buildings were also damaged.
NDMA moved certain people from six residences out of temporary housing and relocated them, after conducting assessments to ensure that their buildings of residence were safe for occupation.
Although some victims have made alternative living arrangements, 199 still remain lodged at temporary housing facilities provided by NDMA, which also arranged food provision.
