Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) promoted Mohamed Asif to Assistant Commissioner of Prisons on Friday, marking the first ACP appointment of MCS.

He was appointed to the new post during the ceremony held in Maafushi Prison on September 27, to commemorate the 48th anniversary of MCS.

The letter of appointment was presented by Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla.

Asif was formerly a superintendent, in charge of managing Male' Prison. He has served in MCS for more than 13 years.

MCS also promoted 113 officers in addition to Asif. The service presented plaques to long-serving officers and staff, during the ceremony.
