Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure on Wednesday contracted Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to develop the harbours of Miladhoo in Noonu Atoll and Maavah in Laamu Atoll.
The ministry's Permanent Secretary Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed signed the agreements, while MTCC was represented by COO Shahid Hussain Moosa.
The Miladhoo harbour project costs MVR 42 million, and comprises the development of a 248-metre outer seawall, 286-metre inner seawall, and 137-metre revetments.
The Maavah harbour project was awarded under a design and build policy, and entails the development of a 284-metre outer seawall and 110-metre inner seawall.
MTCC is to complete both projects within 11 months, as per the agreements.
In addition, the planning ministry also contracted local firm SAS E Construction Pvt Ltd to develop the outer seawall of Maamendhoo, Gaafu Alif Atoll, under the design and build policy. According to the agreement, the MVR 31 million project must be completed within a year and three months.
SAS E Construction was represented by Managing Director Saudullah Ahmed at the signing ceremony.
