The President's Office appointed Maldives Democracy Network (MDN)'s Chairperson Nooshin Waheed as a Counter-Terrorism Consultant.
The consultant was appointed in the wake of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's guarantees to initiate reforms to tackle terrorism, including amendments to the Terrorism Prevention Act.
Findings of the Commission on Investigation of Murders and Enforced Disappearances reported that missing journalist Rilwan Ahmed was murdered following a clash between liberals and an extremist group.
The latter is reportedly a local affiliate of the militant multi-national extremist organization, al-Qaeda.
