Cyryx College donated computers to 68 households in Hulhudhoo, Addu Atoll on Sunday.
Chairman of Cyryx College Ahmed Shareef revealed that the computers were donated after assessing the families' living conditions and determining which households needed them most urgently.
According to Shareef, the families were determined after collaborating with civil organisations in the island.
"The computers were donated to families most in need, such as families being raised by a single mother or households with many children", elaborated Shareef, who was born in Hulhudhoo.
He further disclosed that the college plans to launch an entry level Information Technology programme in the island later this yea, approved by Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA).
Declaring that the state of Hulhudhoo has deteriorated over the past 30 years since his migration to capital city Male', Shareef said he intended to provide solutions and accordingly revealed plans to donate equipment for parks in Hulhudhoo.
In addition, Cyryx College is currently conducting research into the development of a shrimp-farm on the island.
