The Humanists in Brain-behaviour Analysis and Advocacy (Thibaa) Psychology clinic was officially launched on Sunday evening.
The clinic was inaugurated by First Lady Fazna Ahmed, who appealed to practitioners and advocates to collaborate together to create awareness regarding mental health.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, she highlighted the growth of mental health professionals within the country.
"Mental health suffering from daily stress issues to mental disorders such as anxiety and depression are increasing. This growing concern contributes significantly to the burden of disease in the country and overall wellbeing of Maldivians", said the company.
The clinic provides clients with both individual, child-oriented counselling and psychotherapy, which includes services such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Speech Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Hypnotherapy, family counselling and couples therapy.
In addition to psychological assessments, clinical diagnosing and career counselling, Thibaa conducts various awareness campaigns within the education sector and more.
Referring to the institutes' slogan 'Helping you to be yourself', Thibaa's co-founder and Psychologist Nada Shareef expressed that "it’s our dream to open a mental health facility to provide services that exceed client expectations".
As an out-patient mental health facility, Thibaa has developed specialized units, including Psychometric and Research, Counselling and Psychotherapy, Applied Behavior Analysis, Neurodiversity Support, Attachment Enhancement and a Psychiatry Unit.
Moreover, Thibaa will carry out evidence-based psychotherapeutic research. It also offers internship opportunities for training under the Thibaa team and via international institutions and psychological organizations.
Thibaa is comprised of founding partners and Psychologist Nada, Shuzna Ibrahim and Psychotherapist Mohamed Musthafa Farooq. The team is joined by Assistant Psychologist Fathimath Manal Ali, Psychologist Khadeeja Hasaana Hassan, and Programme Director and Behaviour Analyst Nadhuva Husein.
