President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Thursday reiterated his administration's pledge to provide students access to modern, top-quality educational opportunities without incurring large debts for their parents.

The president made the declaration during his address at the ceremony held to mark the Golden Jubiliee of Hidaya School in Miladhoo, Noonu Atoll.

In his remarks, President Solih stated that the most valuable investment for national growth and progress is to provide enriched and enhanced learning opportunities for children.

Noting that success stories in all fields begin with education, he emphasised that it was a crucial component in creating a multifaceted workforce of skilled individuals in a variety of specialities.

The president went on to declare that today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders on whom the future of Maldives rests, underlining the fundamental importance of cultivating young minds to become innovative problem solvers in the pursuit of national development and progress.

President Solih further reaffirmed that the most important goal of his administration is to nurture "a generation of healthy, happy, hardworking and self-sufficient young adults", and that continuous refining and upgrading of the educational system is required to achieve this target.

In the address, President Solih went on to highlight that Miladhoo has historically given great precedence to education, stating that the residents have always strived for progress through individual effort. He called on all educators and parents to consider it their patriotic duty to facilitate the learning process of students and children.

President Solih is currently on a trip to Noonu Atoll. In addition to participating in the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Hidaya School, he met with the island council and senior institutional representatives from Miladhoo.

The president is scheduled to visit Kudafaree Island in the second leg of his trip.
